Knowledge Transfer to farmers
East-West Seed recognizes that providing seeds and sharing knowledge go hand-in-hand. In developing countries, smallholder farmers often struggle due to high poverty rates, limited knowledge of improved varieties, poor cultivation techniques, and weak value chain functions.
To help address these issues, we conduct initiatives that help increase the knowledge and skills of our farmers.
Our Initiatives
- In-Person Agronomy Support. Our commercial teams provide hands-on, personalized agronomy support tailored to each farmer’s unique needs. This includes assistance throughout the crop cycle, from soil preparation to harvesting, conducting field visits for pest and disease management, and organizing group training sessions on crop production and pest management.
- Digital Agronomy Support. To reach more farmers, we provide digital resources, including detailed crop growing manuals and troubleshooting guides that offer variety-specific advisories to address common challenges and improve crop productivity.
- East-West Seed Knowledge Transfer (EWS-KT) Foundation. Through EWS-KT, we organize practical training sessions and field demonstrations to showcase profitable and sustainable production practices. Partnering with governments, NGOs, development organizations, and private companies, we aim to scale up our extension activities and support more farming communities.
