Women farmers are vital to sustainable agriculture, comprising 43% of the agricultural labor force in developing countries, and nearly 50% in parts of Asia and Africa, as reported by the Food and Agriculture Organization. East-West Seed recognizes the importance for women to have greater access to tools and knowledge to help improve their productivity.
We involve women in 30% of our services and increasingly set gender targets in our projects, focusing on women as key farmers and influencers.
In Myanmar, EWS-KT partnered with the international NGO Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) on the Advancing Inclusive Growth Through Shared Value in Myanmar (ADVANCE Myanmar) project. This initiative helps lead women farmers enhance their knowledge and help them form market linkages for selling their products.
