INTERNSHIP: Post-Harvest Loss Reduction

Post-harvest losses have a great impact on the availability of food. Post-harvest loss in vegetables are huge because vegetables are just piled on top of each during transport.

We look for an intern to come up with a racking system to transport veggies. The rack should be modular, easy to assemble and disassemble, fit to all kinds of trucks, truckers should love it, lightweight, practical, etc.

Tasks and responsibilities include :

Investigate post low cost post-harvest technology to maintain good quality and prolong shelf life (tomato & sweet corn)

Make use of existing knowledge on post-harvest technology in home country and compare to current situation in the Philippines

Make a business case on the impact of a new racking system, showing comparative analysis of costs of post-harvest losses versus investment in new technology
